THESIS XIII
PART ONE — THE PORTFOLIO
The sector is contracting while the extraction intensifies.
The audience shrinks. The company cuts costs. The business searches for higher yield.
Bumble reported first-quarter 2025 revenue of $247 million, down eight percent, with app paying users at 2.7 million and a user base that fell from roughly fifty-eight million in 2023 to fifty million in 2024. Whitney Wolfe Herd returned as chief executive in March 2025 and announced the elimination of around thirty percent of staff, some 240 roles, in June, saving approximately forty million dollars annually. The company's market value fell from the seven-to-fifteen-billion-dollar range at its 2021 listing to roughly half a billion by mid-2025.
